Unless the elders or parents were telling her not to tell the police, this is not a problem against the society, just this individual. So while this religion lets these creeps in, we cant blame any wrongdoing on the elders part in this case.

I had a feeling it was mis-information. and Finkelstein, so true, the wolves are ready to pounce if they can find something. Funny thing is she heard it from someone who is DFed but has not been to meetings in over 20 years..so most likely mis-information.

I Remember the part with the scriptures, and just wait till the last question and it was process of elimination, and they always made the joke "here is the tough question now, for those who havent answered"

notalone, I am in exactly the same boat. We cant put a tree up yet, because we have JW family coming over this weekend, Cant put decorations outside because of stalkers who are trying to figure out why we dont go to meetings anymore. I am not DF nor did I did dis-associate so trying to stay under radar for a few more weeks. But we bought gifts for family and friends that are not JW's. It is exciting I am also not young, just a little younger then you. So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! as It is my first as well....

Christmas is Coming!
by Drifting Away inso, this will be a time of much confusion.
being a born in, and wanting to celebrate my first christmas is confusing, nerve wracking, and difficult to comprehend.
how have others dealt with there first christmas after leaving?

Thank you all for your responses,
I like the idea of a real tree. This year we were actually invited to someones house for Christmas, so that may make an easy transition for our first year, then next year , spice things up a bit. I also plan on writing some cards out to family who will be floored and excited at the same time..

So, this will be a time of much confusion. Being a born in, and wanting to celebrate my first christmas is confusing, nerve wracking, and difficult to comprehend. How have others dealt with there first Christmas after leaving? It sucks because this cult messed me up as a child, I hated going to the library as a kid in school when the other kids were having a holiday party. I acted like I didnt care but, reality is it killed me and to this day (im over 40), I never forgot that. I don't want my kids to feel like this..I guess kids are more excepting these days, and my kids act like it is ok, I think they miss it and are embarrased when asked what they got for Christmas. But now that I have faded pretty well with my wife, We are going to have a small Christmas together. I have 3 kids under the age of 10. So hopefully they were not too brain washed..Anyway, I know its early but, Merry Christmas to all!!

Taking the Step
by beardfreedom infirst time posting after years of reading, the things i have learned here have gradually helped to open my eyes to the reality of this religion.
though i have been mentally out for some time, lately i have stopped going to meetings and service.
the elders are calling and i have been ignoring them, i am trying to get up the courage to finally break free and never go back.

Welcome Beardfreedom. I am also in the same boat as you, Been inactive for about 7 months now. It is still and adjustment and will def, take time. I plan on celebrating my first Christmas this year,(very small celebration), in fact I am listening to Christmas music as I type this haha..Anyway, Me and my wife have had many crying nights, praying for answers, and we have still not been to a meeting, so I am guessing we are doing the right thing. I feel great , dont feel guilty about anything anymore. I Just want to be a good person and do something positive on this earth, and not knock on peoples doors on saturday mornings, and fake that I am a happy person (when I was in).I am def. happier now. I have family still in which is why I did not DA myself. But now that I plan on celebrating birthdays and holidays, It may just be a matter of time, before the noseys start calling me or stopping by, ready to pounce like a wolf. But again, welcome, and feel free to ask questions..

11th hour...
by zeb inthe 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.. "they shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
age shall not weary them or the years condemn.. at the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember them..".

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe. -

so let me get this straight.. the borg moves into their new corporate country club....
by nowwhat? inwith their luxurious lakeside condos.
takes all the congregations funds promising new kingdom halls.
but instead starts selling off kingdom halls ..then makes faithful old brothers and sisters drive 20-30 miles to another one, and .kicks out half the bethelites for only only tech savy college educated ones.can barely afford to send out printed publications anymore.
